Parkhurst Stream Restoration
Lenexa views its stream corridors as amenities and does it’s best to maintain them in a fashion that is both visually appealing and a functional part of the overall stormwater system.
Crews will be working in the stream between Renner and Penrose over the next several months. The work will include some grading within the stream and some vegetation management along the stream. During the course of the project, some of the less desirable species of trees will be cut down. We will also be treating some of the existing grass with herbicide in order to prepare for planting native grasses.
As some areas of the project are completed, permanent erosion control materials such as erosion blankets and straw logs will be left in place near the stream. It is critical that these remain undisturbed as they will stabilize the soil until the new growth occurs.
