New Stormwater Design Standards and Specifications

The Governing Body adopted on April 20, 2004 new stormwater design standards and specifications (American Public Works Association Section 5600 http://www.kcapwa.net/kcmetro/Specifications.asp

for the first time in the Kansas City Metropolitan area linking stormwater quantity and quality in an engineering standard and specification. While continuing to address common stormwater conveyance issues in urban environments, the new standard also addresses rainfall events that are responsible for destabilization of our natural streams requiring future development in Lenexa to control these storm events so as not to negatively impact natural streams that are protected by the city’s Stream Setback Ordinance (highlight to link to stream setback ordinance).
