New Stormwater Quality Regulations

The Governing Body adopted on April 20, 2004 new stormwater quality best management practices (BMPs) (American Public Works Association Manual of Best Management Practices for Stormwater Quality http://www.kcapwa.net/kcmetro/Specifications.asp for the first time in the Kansas City Metropolitan area linking stormwater quantity and quality. Stormwater quality BMPs are intended to minimize the impacts on a watershed’s natural systems (i.e., streams, wetlands and lakes) and mitigating for unavoidable water quality impacts where appropriate. The Manual provides the latest tools and techniques in a format that is understandable and able to be implemented by development.
