How is the New Approach Different?

Lenexa's proposed approach is to view storm water on a systemic basis, not as a problem but as a significant community asset. This concept will not only address the damaging effects of storm water runoff, but the quality of that water as well. In the process, Lenexa will encourage more environmentally sensitive development and create amenities which will not only address storm water issues, but will also serve as significant community assets. This approach is rooted in the Vision 2020 community visioning document developed by hundreds of Lenexa citizens about two years ago. One of the key recommendations of that document was to maintain a balance between Lenexa's natural and manmade environments, preserving key natural features while promoting quality growth and development.
