How Does This Impact the Quality of Life in Lenexa?

Lenexa is a rapidly developing community. Growth to the west presents opportunities to maintain a balance between Lenexa's natural and manmade environments, preserving key natural features while promoting quality growth and development. The time to strike this important balance is before extensive development occurs. Community leaders in developing the Vision 2020 Plan recognized the importance of properly managing storm water: "The community values its environment and encourages decisions be made giving due consideration and appropriate balance to preservation of the natural environment." With this directive, the new Storm Water Management Program focuses on principles that improve water quality, encourage open space, protect wildlife habitat, reduce the negative impacts of flooding and provide for additional recreational spaces.
