Waterfest
Celebrate it, respect it, learn to protect it.

What would August in Lenexa be without a day dedicated to nothing but water? With Waterfest marking its 10th year in 2009, that's not something that residents have had to ponder for quite some time.

What is Waterfest?
Waterfest is a day for Lenexa residents to join together to celebrate water. A free event, Waterfest offers numerous interactive, educational booths that provide water quality, stormwater and other environmental information, as well as entertainment and many water-related activities that appeal to all ages.

When is it?
The 10th annual Waterfest is 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 1, 2009 at Sar-Ko-Par Trails Park in Lenexa, 87th Street and Lackman Road.

What can I do there?
More than 30 different booths and activities are planned, including paddle boats, canoeing, cane-pole fishing, waterslides, wacky water games, moon walk, face painting, water spray by the Lenexa Fire Department and more. The city also offers entertainment such as Operation Wildlife demonstrations, live music and giveaways.

Passport program
Visit every booth for a chance to win great prizes. Every guest at Waterfest will receive a passport to carry around to the educational booths.

Groups that have hosted interactive educational booths at Waterfest in the past include:
Johnson County Household Hazardous Waste Program
Johnson County Public Works and Wastewater

More than 2,500 people attended Waterfest 2008. Let’s make 2009 even bigger!
