About us

The City of Lenexa's Public Works Department established its Watershed Management Division in the summer of 2000 to implement the city's innovative stormwater management program, Rain to Recreation. Building on Lenexa's Vision 2020 community visioning process, the city adopted watershed management policies and created programs aimed at reducing runoff and nonpoint source pollution. Together, these efforts laid the groundwork for protecting water quality and reducing the effects of new development on local streams.

The long-term success of this program, however, relies on the support of individuals and businesses throughout the community. Working together with local residents, Rain to Recreation aims to enhance the quality of the natural and built environments, conserving and restoring our natural resources.
