Rainscapes
Rainscapes is an educational campaign aimed at promoting water conservation and water quality practices to residents, businesses and industries. Rainscapes is conducted by the City of Lenexa’s watershed management program, Rain to Recreation, which aims to reduce flooding, protect water quality and natural habitat and provide educational and recreational opportunities.
Barrels from Lenexa’s Rain Barrel Parade are now on sale on eBay!
One drop at a time – Rain Barrel Parade
Lenexa’s Rain Barrel Parade is a public art exhibition that places rain barrels designed and decorated by local artists throughout they city. While the barrels are the same size and shape, each artist is challenged to create his or her own artistic interpretation.
This original and unusual artwork was open to the public from June 1 to July 23 at city-owned and Rainscapes partner locations throughout Lenexa.
Auction
The barrels will be auctioned off on eBay, with proceeds funding the 2010 campaign or other water educational efforts, such as rain gardens and future Rain Barrel Parade supplies.

People’s Choice Award Winner
Congratulations to the Lenexa Field and Garden club for winning the coveted People’s Choice Award with their barrel, “Asian Rain Garden.”
“Asian Rain Garden” was given away at Waterfest, the city’s annual water festival on Saturday, July 31. Kyle Schluben and his dad, Bob, of Lenexa were the lucky winners!
