Protect water quality
Water quality affects everyone, yet our water resources can be impaired by myriad of land and water uses. At stake are safe drinking water, aquatic ecosystems and clean streams, lakes and rivers. While there are many threats to water quality, you can play a role in your community's future by getting involved in protecting our water.
The degradation of water quality in one part of watershed can have negative effects on users downstream, and everyone lives downstream.

Poor water quality costs communities – people don't want to live near polluted water, or use it for recreation. Pollution can also degrade ecosystems and habitat, affecting aquatic life and wildlife. We use surface water bodies as drinking water and polluted water can costs more to treat, which results in higher water bills.
In Lenexa, protecting our streams means we help protect water as it flows to the Kaw River, then to the Missouri River and from there, into the Mississippi River, where it eventually ends up in the Gulf of Mexico.
The good news?
It’s easy to protect and restore Lenexa’s watersheds, whether at home, at work or in the community. Get started today!
